KARACHI: Pakistan’s star cricketer Shahid Afridi on Friday called on former president retired general Pervez Musharraf at his residence in Karachi and inquired after his well-being and the health of his ailing mother who has been under treatment in Dubai.
Mr Afridi, who is also former captain of Pakistan’s cricket team, had a brief talk with a group of media persons waiting for him outside the residence of the ex-president in Defence.
When asked about his call on Gen Musharraf, Mr Afridi said that he came to inquire after the former president’s health who was unwell these days and had come here from Islamabad for a medical check-up and consultation with doctors regarding his angina problem.
In reply to another question, the cricketer, better known as Boom Boom Afridi, said that Mr Musharraf as president had rendered great services for Pakistan’s cricket. He said he felt it his moral duty to inquire after the former president’s health and well-being.
He said that he found Gen Musharraf in a relaxed mood.
However, Mr Afridi made it clear that he had no intention of joining politics. He added that during their meeting they did not discuss politics either.
Last Friday Pir Pagara Syed Sibghatullah Shah Rashdi had called on the former president at the latter’s residence in Defence and inquired after his health and well-being.
Pir Pagara, who is president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Functional, was accompanied by a leader of his party Kamran Tessori.
